Maud in the Wild and Other Adventures

On Tuesday April 25, 2017 MAUD was officially launched in Canada and the United States. I celebrated by getting up bright and early and being on TV for the first time.

The hosts, Carolyn Mackenzie and Jeff McArthur, made me feel at home. Carolyn and I got to chat before the show and she’s a big Montgomery and Laura Ingalls Wilder fan, so we connected right away. And when I confessed that this was the first time on TV, she immediately tried to make me feel more comfortable. I have been told that I rocked it…It does feel like my answers were somewhat intelligent. It is interesting being “on.” Honestly, it was a lot of fun. 🙂

Then, I met up with a friend who helped me celebrate by taking a number of pictures of Maud in the wild.

Then, we visited Ben McNally Books where I will be having my official launch this Tuesday, May 2nd from 6 to 8. I’ll also be heading there tomorrow, Saturday April 29th for Canadian Authors for Indies Day between 11:30 and 12:30.

We finished our journey at the Indigo at the Eaton’s Centre where they asked me if I wanted to sign the copies they had on hand…and so I did. 🙂

There have been many emotions over the last few weeks, but seeing the book in a store…something that I had written where people might buy it…I’m not sure how to describe it. I guess a sense of accomplishment. Joy. Anticipation. Gratitude. And, yes, even a little sadness because the book no longer really belongs to me anymore. She belongs to you…and that’s okay, too.  It is even on endcaps…ENDCAPS!

And there’s been a lot around creating boundaries and figuring out what I can and cannot control. What I can do is talk about the cool things that are happening over the next couple of weeks, like author Indie Day tomorrow, and also going to Book City on the Danforth from 1:15 to 2. First bookstore event! That is mine!! WHAT? How did this happen?

On Tuesday May 2nd is my launch in Toronto and then I head to PEI for a few days to do a launch there. Here are the details. If you are on the Island, or feel like taking a trip…you would be most welcome.

When I get back I move to my new home and create a new office. I’ll talk about that in another post. In the meantime, if you see Maud in the wild, do let me know and also let me know what you think of the book.
