Another Muse: Edwin Brownell: Flight of the Hawk

I met Edwin in graduate school when I was working on masters degree #1. He was in my Canadian Historiography class and presented his take on some group of Canadian historians (I cannot remember who) by writing a song and playing it on a small electronic. I remember the words: “History and Herstory” so maybe there was a feminist angle – I don’t quite know – but, he certainly left an impression. He and I worked together on a series of benefit concerts to raise money for a graduate fellowship for history students. He is compassionate and talented and brave. He can get a crowd roaring, or, bring them to tears. He is my friend who will talk to strangers when he walks buy, give the left over popcorn after the movies to a homeless person on the street, and deeply cares about people’s misfortunes. His gift seems to be emulating this love and compassion when he plays; and this latest exquisite composition is no different. I hope that you will take a moment to listen to this beautiful piece of music and check out his website at:
